It creates a space for beneficial microbes to grow and thrive, regenerating the soil and creating better growing conditions and healthier crops.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"cita-elegante wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>GARDENING, HOME, AND WELL-BEING<\/strong><br>Biochar is also used in gardening to improve soil quality, reduce toxins and odors in the home, and for air and water filtration.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"cita-elegante wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CONSTRUCTION<\/strong><br>Biochar is mixed as an aggregate with other materials or used as an additive in the creation of recyclable bioplastics, such as the material developed by <em>Made of Air<\/em>: a material that stores \u201cabout two metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent for every metric ton of plastic.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"cita-elegante wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ANIMAL<\/strong><br><strong>WELFARE<\/strong> Biochar is used as a supplement in animal feed, which reduces methane emissions from ruminants and lowers mortality rates.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>We also work on the following Sustainable Development Goals:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>7<\/strong> AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all<\/strong>. Amata Green\u2019s biochar production process utilizes excess gas and energy from the production process: The equipment recovers excess heat and uses it to dry materials and heat other areas of the facility, as well as neighboring properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>9<\/strong> INDUSTRY, INNOVATION, AND INFRASTRUCTURE<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation<\/strong>. Amata Green will be the first pyrolysis-based biochar production facility in the Spanish province of Andalusia. The research initiative focuses on producing higher-quality biochar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>12<\/strong> RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns<\/strong>. The process will use green \u201cwaste\u201d or biomass derived from the production of olive oil and other olive-based products, and never from biomass plantations or forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>13<\/strong> CLIMATE ACTION<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Take urgent action to combat climate change and its effects<\/strong>. Amata Green\u2019s biochar production process utilizes excess energy: The equipment recovers excess heat and uses it to dry and heat other areas of the facility. Biochar actively sequesters carbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>15<\/strong> LIFE ON LAND<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems; sustainably manage forests; combat desertification; halt and reverse land degradation; and halt biodiversity loss<\/strong>. When used in agriculture, biochar reduces erosion, decreases pollution in waterways, prevents the depletion of aquifers, reduces soil salinity, increases soil microbial activity, and boosts farmers\u2019 productivity.
